If someone is threatening you
Take a breath. This is a known crime with a known playbook, and the next steps are simple. You have done nothing that removes your right to help.
1. Do not pay. Do not send more.
Paying never ends it, and sending more never releases you. Both tell them the pressure works.
2. Do not delete anything.
The conversation is evidence. Leave it exactly as it is.
3. Report the conversation, then block.
Open the conversation, choose Report, and pick Blackmail. The report preserves a snapshot of the exact content as evidence before the block takes effect, the case goes to the top of the review queue, and the reported account is never told who filed it.
4. Use the outside help built for this.
StopNCII.org blocks your images across partner platforms without your images ever leaving your device. Take It Down does the same if any image dates from before you were 18. FBI IC3 takes extortion reports in the United States.
What happens after you report: a trained reviewer sees the case with its preserved evidence, threats and blackmail carry the shortest review deadlines, and you can follow the case under Settings, My safety reports.
